Introduction to Coding and Robotics with Arduino

Introduction to Coding and Robotics with Arduino

Erasmus+ Course overview

This course aims to introduce participants to the Arduino software; all students love working with Arduino, it’s innovative, user friendly and easy to understand and a great way to start learning more about electronics and robotics.

Course Methodology

This week long course will use both theoretical and practical sessions to teach the basic skills needed to introduce your students to the Arduino software and C++ coding language.

An introduction to each topic – a mixture of trainer-led presentations and pair/group exercises

Hands-on work. Participants will make their own programming projects of programming and practice the concepts in different programming environments

Classroom visit to a local school or code school premises, experiencing a programming class with selected age group

Modules

  • Module 01 – Coding principles and motivation, basics coding concepts
  • Module 02 – Developing computational thinking
  • Module 03 – Objective of curricula internationally, integrating programming into curriculum
  • Module 04 – Programming for grades 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9
  • Module 05 – Programming with BBC micro:bit
  • Module 06 – Programming with tablets
  • Module 07 – org, Scratch and beyond
  • Module 08 – Graphical/semi-textual coding environments
  • Module 09 – Robotics, principles and environments,
  • Module 10 – Animations, game basics, game programming concepts
  • Module 11 – Moving from block languages to Python
  • Module 12 – Hands-on implementation of a project suitable for own grade, Classroom visits

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will have all the skills required for your own Arduino project. During the course we will give you an Arduino set and all the different parts needed to work on your own.

Arduino is very fun to work with and we promise that you will feel proud of your work, and after just a few practice exercises you will start to understand not only the C++ coding language, but also how the different devices around us actually work.

Guided city tours and 1 full day cultural excursion (usually on Saturday) will also be part of the programme.

The course participants will get a Participant certificate.

The competences acquired will be validated by the course organisers on the Europass mobility.
